Principal Supervisor Lab

Principal Supervisor Lab

The Principal Supervisor Lab is a hybrid institute, lab, and certificate experience designed to strengthen the leaders who support, coach, and sustain principals. Through three distinct pathways—Aspiring, New, and Experienced Principal Supervisors—the Lab helps participants build the leadership skills, coaching practices, and role clarity needed to develop principals and strengthen the conditions around their leadership.

Why Principal Supervision Matters

Principals do not get better by themselves.

Principals play a critical role in student achievement, school culture, instructional improvement, teacher development, and community trust. The role of the principal supervisor is one of the most important leadership roles in any school system.

Principals need strong systems, skilled supervisors, and a coherent support network. The Principal Supervisor Lab positions principal supervision as transformational, not merely operational — because principal supervisors are coaches, system connectors, strategic thinkers, and advocates.

Who This Is For

The Principal Supervisor Lab serves district, charter, and private school systems, as well as individual leaders across the full principal supervisor pipeline — from those preparing for the role, to those newly serving in it, to veteran supervisors ready to deepen their executive-level impact. Systems may enroll teams or individual participants.

Three Differentiated Pathways

The Lab serves as the umbrella program, but the three differentiated pathways are the centerpiece of the model. Each pathway is intentionally designed as its own strand, allowing participants to engage in learning directly aligned to their role, experience level, and leadership goals.

1

Aspiring Principal Supervisors

Preparing for the Role

For experienced principals and central office leaders interested in becoming principal supervisors. This pathway helps participants understand the expectations, mindset, leadership shifts, and system-level responsibilities required to support and develop principals across multiple schools.

2

New Principal Supervisors

Building the Foundation

For principal supervisors in years 0–3 of the role. This pathway helps newer supervisors build the foundational skills needed to coach principals, clarify expectations, support school improvement, manage complexity, and transition from leading a school to leading school leaders.

3

Experienced Principal Supervisors

Deepening System Impact

For principal supervisors with 3 or more years of experience. This pathway helps veteran supervisors refine their executive leadership, deepen their coaching practice, strengthen central office coherence, and increase their influence across schools and systems.
